Ethiopian Sports Academy is a public institution entrusted to train potentially endowed youngsters in Olympic Sports. The Academy also renders capacity building training to professionas in different sport fields. Conducting research & studies which contribute to the quality of different sports disciplines & disseminating the results there of is also Academy’s objective.
Academy’s two campuses are working to produce physically & mentally competent & ethically sound Young Sport elites for national and international competitions.
Addis ababa campus located in Bole Sub City is only two minutes’ drive North from Bole International Airport.
Athlete Turunesh Dibaba sports Training Center situated in Assela city, 175 Kms. South East of Addis Ababa.
The academy offers tuition free training in nine sport disciplines with full accommodation to under 15 & under 17 youngsters of both sexes.
Trainees also enjoy regular academic schooling, training in basic computer skills and pocket money.
The Academy as sports research center avails finance every year to Academic researches. Academy’s staff, private researchers & universities are invited to forward proposals through open calls for research on selected thematic areas in accordance to the Academy’s Research & Study Policy & Guideline.
The Academy stages National Sports Research Conference every year to accommodate both sponsored & private researches & studies.
Capacity building trainings offered to sports professionals are also Academy’s second objective. A number of professionals, especially researchers have been beneficiary of the scheme.
Partnership for common good is also Academy’s area of interest. Knowledge transfer has so for been Academy’s prioriy under foreign partnership schemes. The Academy under local partnership schemes has so far benefited a number of sports associations, public, civil & private partners by availing Academy’s facilities & through the provision of material & financial support. The Academy has also cultivated relations with a couple of toreing partners. The Academy plans to expand both local & foreign partnership schemes.
